An Amish Crafted 30×60 pole barn gives you 1,800 square feet of open floor space. That is enough for six parking stalls, a large workshop with a dedicated storage bay, or a small warehouse for a growing business. Wanna see it in practice? Check out the Massillon Equestrian Post Frame Building.

People choose this size for one reason: they need more room than a 30×50 pole building offers, but they do not want to jump to a larger, more expensive footprint like the 40×60 pole barn. It works well for:

  • Equipment storage. Combine tractors, hay, and a repair bay in one building.
  • Large workshops. Keep fabrication tools and material storage under one roof.
  • Commercial use. Small fleet parking, warehousing, or retail space.
  • Equestrian. Covered riding arena or a barn with multiple stalls and a tack room.
  • Mixed use. Park RVs and boats on one side and run a woodshop on the other.

A 30 foot width means you have flexibility. You can divide the space into two 15 foot bays or keep it wide open for large equipment. The 60 foot length gives you a long work lane.

Common layout options:

  • Six garage doors across the front wall, each 10 feet wide, with a workshop at the rear.
  • One large bay for an RV or motorhome (14 foot tall door recommended) with a side workshop.
  • Split plan with 30×40 for storage and 30×20 for a finished office or apartment.
  • Lean-to addition on one side for covered equipment parking without increasing the main footprint.

The most common door combinations we build on this size are two 12×12 overhead doors or three 10×10 doors.

From start to finish the team at Swiss Construction has been a pleasure to work with. They are professional, responsive, hard working, timely, and fairly priced. We would highly recommend this company!

I contacted them concerning a building project. They gave me a quick response and the job was complete in very short order. The original price quoted and agreed to came back less then originally quoted. The owner has integrity and will do what he can to take care of business. Very Happy & Very Pleased !

We had Swiss Construction build us a 30×40 pole barn with a lean-to front porch about 6 months ago and they did an outstanding job. We recently had them come back and finish the ceiling of our lean-to porch and we couldn’t be happier. No project is too small or too big for Swiss Construction and the crew!

Our school district needed a maintenance/storage facility; Swiss built us a 50 X 80 X 16 building that exceeded our expectations. The quality of the workmanship is excellent; EVERY ONE of their workmen was a pleasure to work with. Swiss is a very honest company and we are in talks with them on several more buildings.

Frequently Asked Questions

In a conventionally framed home, the structure relies on a series of load-bearing stud walls, beams, and joists to support the weight of the building. The framing is typically made of dimensional lumber or engineered wood products. On the other hand, a post-frame home utilizes large vertical wood columns or posts placed at regular intervals to support the roof and walls. These posts are embedded directly into the ground or mounted on concrete piers.

Both styles of home can accommodate a wide variety of interior and exterior finishes.

We’ve learned that the term “barndominium” means different things to different people. However, it often refers to a simple, post-frame home with a floorplan that is not limited by load-bearing walls. Whether you choose this style of construction or a conventionally-framed structure, we specialize in premium living spaces that meet your living requirements and emphasize quality at every step.

The primary difference between these two styles of construction is the foundation (posts vs. load bearing walls). Choosing one or the other does not affect the overall cost of the home. Mechanical systems, flooring, cabinetry, windows, and other interior and exterior finishes cost the same, regardless of the foundation type.
